We're Here to Push Back Lostness

Redeeming Life Church,

We're here for a purpose.  Our aim is transcendent.   Our goal matters in a thousand years.  We're not here just to be another neighborhood organization where people can gather and be buddies, although we hope to do that.  We're not just here to do good in the community, although we desire to do that too.  No.  God has placed Redeeming Life Church in Rose Park and the surrounding area to push back lostness.

Brokenness can be found anywhere in the world.  Look around.  Let the eyes of your heart see what we so often want not to see.  Today, the news makes it a little easier to notice.  Once again they've pointed their cameras at darkness for us to gawlk.  But what a strong reminder why we've come to this part of Salt Lake City.

This is in Riverside Park.  It's only a few feet from where I stood and preached the gospel on Easter morning.  This is where we play.  This river cuts right through our neighborhood.  And a man is dead.  Maybe murdered.

God has placed each of us where we are to proclaim the light.  John 1 says Jesus is that light and we are called to proclaim salvation in Jesus Christ and no other, through grace alone, by faith alone.  We are here to point dead men and women to life.  And by doing that, it is my prayer that this community is greatly impacted.

As you watch the story unfold in the coming days, realize that this kind of darkness is everywhere there is sin and hurt and brokenness and rebellion and sickness.  Jesus is the only answer.  Jesus is the only healing.  Jesus is the Light and the darkness can not, and will not overcome the Light.

Redeeming Life Church, please join me in praying for our community.  Please pray for our mission to saturate this community with the gospel.  And please, please, pray that God would pour out his grace on our community such that souls would awaken and worship our Risen King!

Soli Deo gloria!
Pastor Bryan

P.S>  If you are reading this post and curious how to find the Light of Christ, we would love to talk with you.  We would love to pray for you.

Please know that God wants to have a loving relationship with us, but we have turned our back on God. The Bible calls this sin. Because of our sin, we have no peace with God. The punishment for sin is death and an eternity apart from God. The Bible calls this hell. But God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a sin-free life, die on the cross for our sins, and conquer death by raising back to life on the third day.

However, in order to enter into a loving relationship with God, He asks that you do the following:

Admit: Admit that you have sinned against God. Romans 3 says we've all fallen short of his expectations.

Believe: Believe that Jesus is who he says he is.  He is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. John 1 says that all who believe in his name will be given the right to become children of God.

Confess: Confess that Jesus is Lord. Romans 10 says if you confess that Jesus is Lord, you will be saved. This means you let God call all the shots. You trust and obey him in all areas of your life.

To do this, you need to have a conversation with God.  It's called prayer.  Find a quiet spot and start talking to God.  Admit, believe, and confess.

We'd love to chat with you and pray for you. The Christian life is not intended to be a lonely journey. Come worship and learn more about Jesus at Redeeming Life Church.  We meet at the Northwest Community Center (300 N. 1300 W.) on Sunday mornings at 11am.  You can also find more information right here on our website.
